Fermentation of Organic Materials
Process
Note: Composting quality and parameters depends on the materials, environment, volume, etc. This guide offers general advice for using BR. For specific composting procedures, please consult local agricultural technicians or contact us.
Step 1 - Organic Material Preparation
- It is recommended that the organic material consists of 25-35% animal waste and 65-75% plant biomass (husk, straw, etc.)
- Add 1 kg of BR per tonne of finished compost (calculated based on the weight after fermentation).
Step 2 - Fermentation with BR
Mix the organic materials with BR and water evenly. Shuffle the pile a few times.
Ensure the initial water content is 60-70%.
(Test the water content by grabbing a handful of the mixture, squeezing it into a ball, and dropping it from shoulder height. If a small amount of liquid seeps out when squeezed and the ball breaks apart upon impact, the moisture level is ideal.)Shape into 60-80 cm cubes and wrap with plastic film, or make it into a pile and cover with airtight canvas.
Step 3 - Cooling
- If the temperature reaches 60-70°C, shuffle the pile to cool it to room temperature.
- Repeat until the temperature stays below 60°C.
- Remove the plastic or canvas.
- If too wet, poke holes to aid cooling and evaporation.
- Apply compost when cooled.
And most importantly...
Note
- These instructions apply to the growing season. In winter, reduce application frequency due to plant dormancy.
- For low-value crops like leafy greens and grains, we recommend only foliar spraying and seed coating due to their lower cost. For high-value crops, use all methods together for optimal results.
- Foliar spraying is best done in the late afternoon/evening or early morning.
- These methods and parameters are based on extensive experiments across various regions of China, mainly in the north. When using them elsewhere, adjust for local growing conditions and farming practices.
- This guide will be regularly updated.
